What Martial Art compliments Karate best?
I’m 16 and have been doing karate for 8 years and have achieved 1st Dan and would like to try something new. There is a Krav Maga club nearby but it is for over 18s only. Is there any other martial arts that compliment karate such as Wing Chun or Bujikan?
a first degree black belt only means you have an understand of the basics and nothing more. you have barely learned anything about karate. i doubt you full understand all the grappling involved, as for krav maga all the techniques in krav maga are in your kata, if you understand the bunkai, oyo , Kakushi, Henka and sutemi of kata. which you haven’t reach those level of application yet.

What is better in fighting? Being big and very muscular or being very skilled at martial arts/ karate?
Also what type of skill and chance does a blue belt have against fighting a normal athletically fit person?
Being skilled in martial arts is a major advantage. Fighting is not so much about strength/power but rather technique, skill, and experience.
BQ: A blue belt would have a very solid chance of overcoming an "athletic" person (back when I studied martial arts, I sparred with several, they were VERY proficient).

What martial art is better than the other? – Judo or Karate?
I was thinking to learn a fighting style of martial arts (only Judo or Karate), because I think that it will help me a lot with my flexibility, strength and stamina, so I decided to ask questions and get good answers. (I only chose Judo or Karate because they are the only local ones). Thank You
Most people do not realize how interlinked these systems are. I recommend finding a traditional Karate school that also offers Judo. There are many out there. I was trained in both Goju Ryu and Judo at the same time and my Sensei was really good at interlinking the too when we did Randori (free exercise). Both are great for what you are looking to gain from them and I applaud you for not wanting to be in them just to learn fighting ability. Good luck.
Kyokushin karate vs other martial arts
Seems like a very old video of kyokushin fighters (including Matsui Shokei) fighting against other martial artists.

Can I start the martial art Karate?
Hi everyone!
I am a 16 years old male.
I want to start karate but I want to prepare myself first.
My weight is 170 lbs and my height is 5 feet and 10 inches.
I am not in the best shape but I want to get in shape before starting the class.
So my questions are: Am I too fat to start karate? How much weight should I lose? How can I prepare myself for karate?
